Tips on
Horse Stats
Ok!
So first, you should know what are the horse stats so I suggest you read up on them here.
As you may have noticed, most people only up one stat to the max, for example the Control (2nd stat) the most commonly used stat.
What does that do? It makes your magic gauge fill in faster and makes your horse faster on uphill and downhill terrains.
Though, what about the other stats?
I mean, if the horse's magic gauge fills in Magic races quickly it's good but... If you get a Booster and it doesn't last much it that could cost you a win. So Speed is also an important stat.
So! Let's get to it!
P.S.: Please note that these are simply suggestions, based on experience. It works in our case but every player is different!

Horse Stats for Magic Races
In Magic races there are key factors that can lead you to victory that are related to your horse's stats. You will need your magic bar to fill fast (achieved with the Control stat), you will also need to guarantee your place in the front line if you're planning on staying in the 1st place the whole race (the Agility stat is good for this, because it will grant you longer Shield spell duration). Or maybe, you like staying in the back to get Booster spells and Phoenix spells (achieved by the Speed and Strength stat respectively) in order to sneak your way into 1st place at the last moment. Either way, your horse's stats have to be built around your chosen strategy. So we suggest certain builds for certain strategies.
Fast Magic gauge load
Full Control horse

If your strategy consists on always reacting fast with spells in Magic races, this is the horse for you. Full Control horses are good to stay always between 5th~1th place through the whole race, as you will always have a response to whoever tries overthrowing you. They are also excellent for uphill and downhill terrains. If you can get a horse at 120 Control, it will even run uphill faster than it's base speed. Additionally you can use an armor set that will lower even more the loading time of a spell. These are:
|
Sprinting faster than anyone else
Full Speed horse

This type of strategy is typically known in other games as the Glass Canon. You will mostly be vulnerable and will have to learn to avoids the attacks from other players yourself rather than being able of taking hits. Full Speed horses are good to be holding back at 7th~8th place to obtain Boost spells and sprint quickly to 1st place at the last spurt. This strategy makes the player very vulnerable through the race, so the player should find ways to avoid being detected.
For this set, we recomend armor sets that compensate your horse's general slow magic gauge fill. These armor sets are:
|
Sprinting fast + fairly fast Magic gauge load
Mixed Control + Speed combo
Tabaki's horse |
This is a good option for sprinting without being a complete glass canon. It's common with full Speed horses in Magic races that you'll get hit, and your magic gauge will take years to load (even when you're using an armor that is filling your magic bar faster) and you'll be helpless until you finally have a spell again. Sets with Speed and Control help you on that case, since they're a nice mix of both. It's smart to try to keep the 2 stats leveled perfectly, and in the case of a 209 total stat point horse. Although, sometimes you need 1 of the stats more than the other. If that's the case, making Magic at 80 with 60 points on Speed is smart, or vice versa.
Either armors that boost your magic gauge or armors that raise your chance of having critical spells will work nicely with this set of stats. |
Tanking and avoiding hits
Almost full Agility horse

For longer shield duration, you'll want to invest in the Agility stat. You will not only be protected longer, you will also be able to turn more easily and avoid Ice Wall spells from other players. This strategy consists essentially in the opposite of the fast sprinters. You will want to stay in 1st place and simply not getting taken down because of wider chance of critical Shield spells, wider chance of getting such spells and longer duration of such. It's a good idea to pair this strategy with armor sets that will increase your magic gauge progress, to make up for the slow magic gauge loading. It is also smart to pair the Agility stat with the Control stat if you chose to use another armor set effect.
